A cabin cruiser is a type of boat that usually ranges in size from 24ft to 36ft. They have a head (bathroom) typically with a shower, a galley (kitchen), and at least one berth (bed). Most cabin cruisers usually have a dinette (table) and an aft cabin (bed in the rear of the cabin). Some cabin cruisers are equipped with heating, air conditioning, and power generators. Most also have hot water heaters and shore power electric systems. Cabin cruisers are generally built to a higher standard of quality because of a U.S. regulation that is very strict on the manufacturing of watercraft larger than 21 feet. Cabin cruisers are often thought of as being slower than open bow boats, which is not generally true; their speed depends purely on it how they are built and equipped. Most newer cabin cruisers are generally faster than older models because of improved aerodynamic and hydrodynamic designs. The cabin provides temporary housing that is generally fairly comfortable. Cabin cruisers are generally able to handle the water better because of their size and give a more stable ride. They are generally spacious in the cockpit (open seating area towards the aft). Cabin cruisers come in a variety of prices, but they can often be expensive. For many people, buying a used cabin cruiser is good alternative to buying a new one as they are less expensive but still don't age like an automobile would; they are more like houses in that regard.
